Project Description

The project is part of the program DOST OL Traps in Schools Nationwide and implemented in collaboration with DOST Regional Offices, Industrial Technology Development Institute, Science and Technology Information Institute, Department of Education, Department of Health and local government units. DOST developed ovilarvicidal traps are installed in all public elementary and high schools nationwide to be able to reduce the population of Aedes aegypti in schools and reduce the transmission of dengue virus in schools. Activities undertaken under the project include training of coordinators from the regional offices, training of teachers, installation of two traps per classroom, monitoring of ovilarvicidal indices by teachers and or nurses and coordination with rural health units for provision of appropriate intervention.
